It’s kinderboekenweek (children’s book week) time in the Netherlands. This is an annual celebration of kids’ literature and this year it runs from the 5th to the 16th of October. This year’s theme is nature (Gi-ga-groen) and it has been officially opened by Andy Griffiths and Marije Tolman.

Improving Your Child’s Dutch Language Skills
If Dutch isn’t your child’s first language but goes to a Dutch speaking school, then reading is a fabulous way to help increase their vocabulary. Furthermore, it’s a fun way!
One way to stimulate your little readers to give reading in Dutch a go is to get the Dutch version of a book they have already read, or get them engrossed in well-known series (such as Dagboek van een Muts or De waanzinnige boomhut series). There are popular Dutch book tips here too.
*Tip: Remember that Sinterklaas and Christmas are around the corner……*
