You are probably putting those gift lists together at the moment so consider buying from Dutch creatives or those that have made the Netherlands their home. Here are some gift ideas from locals, from cards and artwork to jewellery, toilet bags , puzzles and personally designed clogs.

Corines Colors

Corines Colors

For beautiful handmade greeting cards and postcards, including festive and seasonal cards. Personal service is excellent and delivery is quick with a personal touch. I’m a big fan and I highly recommend.

Buttercup Design

Looking for personalised clogs? You will be once you have seen these created by English born Sharon who now lives in the Netherlands. Designs are wide and varied from traditional Dutch objects to animals and Sinterklaas themed clogs. They are stunning and an amazing keepsake.

Kathryn Brouwer

For cards picturing typical Dutch scenes. There were beautiful Dutch themed Christmas cards available, but these seem to be out of stock and not being replenished. However, the canal scenes are fabulous.

So Happy in Red

For retro inspired crochet items and patterns. If you want to crochet your own gifts this year (and you had better get moving) then take a peek. If crocheting is not in your skill set, there are some pre-crocheted items available.

Lekker Holland Designs

Handmade toilet bags, notepads, photo albums and a few other items with the Dutch landscape as the main theme.

Laura Amiss

This is the Etsy shop to go to for travel art that stands out. A city with particular meaning, or a national park – take your pick.

Art by Daan

A stunning collection of uniquely designed jewellery, art, tables, candle holders, cards and other items that I guarantee you won’t see anything like elsewhere. I follow Daan on Twitter and her creative process alone is fascinating, let alone the end result.

Mangomini

A hello from the Netherlands? Say it with this card made by Mangomini. Or there’s a cheese lover’s card.

Faraway Garden

Looking for handmade goodies from the British kitchen? Think fudge, marmalade, cream teas, toffee, sherbets, jams….the list goes on. Faraway Garden is owned by Michelle, originally from the north of England, who has lived in the Netherlands since 2004. Ingredients are sourced locally, some from her own allotment. You will find Michelle with a range of Christmas goodies around the markets of Rotterdam in the coming weeks. Mince pies, gingerbread gin and rum and Christmas cakes anyone?

I’ll just leave this photo here in case anyone is thinking of gifting the owner of their favourite blog about life in the Netherlands… I can almost taste this salted caramel fudge!

Naturally Amy’s

Shower steamers, bath bombs and chill pills. As well as hair products and soap. All great gift ideas. Amy is an American living in the Netherlands and prides herself on her products being natural and handcrafted – and plastic free.

Yarnia

Crocheted Christmas tree ornaments? An adorable elf? A naughty Santa? A nativity scene? Or items totally non-related to Christmas? You name it, Yarnia makes it. You can find Yarnia at the Winter Bazaar at the American School in the Hague this weekend.

Kaboom Laser

These unique designs are made with a laser. There are a range of themed puzzles, some puzzles taking less than an hour to put together, others taking much longer. The wooden art puzzles are gorgeous. And there are home decorations too, including these candle lanterns.

Are there any local creatives that should be in this gift guide? Give me a shout1
