As Christmas fast approaches it’s lovely to be gifted a taste of Christmas from Britain. The British Hamper Company sent me a Happy Christmas Hamper to take a peek at and review. Or rather to eat up with the help of my family. Maybe. If Santa thinks they have been good……
Bye Sinterklaas, Hello British Christmas
Sinterklaas has packed his bags and gone back to Spain. Now the real Christmas festivities can begin. Although to be fair, we had our Christmas tree up at the end of November this year, earlier than the traditional 6 December.
The kids are all non-believers now so we limited the Sinterklaasfeest to the 5th December, haven’t put shoes out and haven’t sung Sinterklaas songs. We have entered into a whole new era of the festive season.
Which means, finally, after 14 years, I get to dedicate some real attention to Christmas again instead of switching between the two celebrations.
For my family that means a heavily tinged British sort of Christmas.
The British Hamper Company
A family business, the British Hamper Company specialises in luxury British gift baskets and food hampers. The company is a member of the Guild of Fine Food and hamper items are sourced from independent artisan food producers around Britain.
British Hamper No Worries Shipping
There had been issues with shipping up until recently, because of the dreaded B word (don’t make me say it! Ok, Brexit) but for the British Hamper Company that is now history. EU shipping has been successfully relaunched. The British Hamper Company offers delivery to the Netherlands in up to 4 working days on a selection of British hampers.
There are no hidden delivery costs because the British hamper prices include customs fees and taxes. And that is definitely good news for Brits abroad given the hit and miss postage charges some have experienced since the B word became a fact.
Packaging
Delivered in a sturdy cardboard box, it arrived in perfect condition. The hamper inside is in a delightful London themed keepsake box wrapped with a red ribbon. It feels modern and luxurious and it seemed a bit of a shame to actually open the box itself.

But open it we did, of course.

Hamper Highlights
The Happy Christmas hamper is full of luxury items that I wouldn’t usually buy. Which of course is what makes this so special. The box is packed in layers so just as you think you have finished unpacking the goodies, more appear underneath.

Here’s what is in the hamper:
- Original Cake Company – Iced Christmas Cake
- The Natural Candy Shop – Jelly Beans
- Cole’s – Brandy Christmas Pudding
- Grate Britain – Smoked Cheese Biscuits
- Hawkshead Relish – Christmas Chutney
- Perry Court Farm – Sweet Apple Crisps
- Willie’s Cacao – Milk of the Gods Luxury Chocolate
- Cornish Artisan Confectionery – Caramel Sea Salt Crumbly Fudge
- Mr Filberts – Mexican Sweet Chilli Mixed Nuts
- Yorkshire Popcorn – Salt & Sweet Popcorn
- Yorkshire Crisps – Worcester Sauce flavour
- Cocoa Loco – Milk Chocolate Christmas Santas
- Hawkens – Gingerbread Christmas Trees
- Willie’s Cacao – El Blanco Luxury Chocolate
- Millers Toast – Cranberry & Raisin
- Lincoln Tea & Coffee Co – Traditional Breakfast Tea
The Caramel Sea Salt Crumbly Fudge was quickly snapped up by more than one family member, but unfortunately for them I had already claimed the box and stashed it away. Nobody messes with my fudge! The jelly beans were a close second for my sons in the popularity stakes but I have my eye on the Worcester sauce flavour crisps.

And I look forward to sharing the Christmas pudding with dollops of brandy butter with my Dutch family.

Perfect Gift for Christmas
If you need a gift idea for Brits overseas this Christmas, (or non-Brits come to think of it) then you can’t go wrong with a luxury Christmas hamper with a personal message!
